We are located about forty five minutes to the west of Asheville off of Interstate 40. There are flights to Asheville Regional Airport if you don’t have the time to drive or you would prefer flying. Atlanta, Greenville and Knoxville is only a few hours away if the Asheville Regional Airport doesn’t have the airline of your choice.
Maggie Valley is located in Haywood County. We cover approximately 546 beautiful miles which include mountains, valleys and foothills. Our area has nine elementary, three middle and three high schools. Haywood Community College is regarded as one of the finest two-year institutions in the country. Western Carolina University at Cullowhee and the University of North Carolina at Asheville are about thirty minutes away.
Haywood County includes portions of the Pisgah National Forest, Shining Rock Wilderness Area and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and twenty four miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Maggie Valley also has North Carolina’s oldest ski resort, Cataloochee Ski Area, located on the top of Fie Top Mountain. If you enjoy fishing, hiking, hunting, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, golf or just kicking back and enjoying the scenery and the weather you are coming to the right place.
There is always something to do whether it is a festival or taking a day trip. You definitely don’t want to miss the Biltmore House. The gardens are beautiful in the spring with tulips, daffidills and dogwoods. Christmas is also a special time with Candlelight Tours and the decorations are breathtaking. A day trip to Pigeon Forge is always a treat. Dollywood is a wonderful theme park the whole family can enjoy. Shopping at the outlet malls is always fun for Mom and finishing off the day with dinner at The Dixie Stampede is a sure highlight. There are numerous music theaters for all you country music fans.
Gatlinburg has unique shopping, plenty of restaurants and ice skating. A ride on The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad is for you if being outdoors is more your style. They offer many different trips but a favorite is “Raft & Rail”. Ride the train and do white water rafting.
